A guesthouse or a hotel?

前回はネットカフェとゲストハウスの違いについてお伝えしましたが、今回はホテルとゲストハウスの違いについてお伝えしていきたいと思います。

皆さんが旅行やビジネスでどこかへ訪れる際に、宿泊を検討する場所といえば　「ホテル」だと思います。

When you think about a place to stay, you might come up with a hotel, not a guesthouse.

ホテルのメリットといえば、なんといっても「個室」である事だと思います。チェックインして部屋に入ってしまえばプライベート空間になるので何も気にせず自分の時間を楽しむ事が出来ます。

The best advantage of a hotel is that there are private rooms. You can enjoy your time without caring about other people.

シャワー、トイレ、アメニティ、テレビや冷蔵庫が部屋にあり自由に使えるといった所も＋αとして挙げられるのではないでしょうか。

Also, each room has a shower room, a bathroom, amenities, a TV and a fridge.

若い頃、私も旅行に行く際はよくホテルを利用していましたが、やはり気になっていたのが「宿泊料金」です。相場がローシーズンで大体5000～8000円、ハイシーズンだと10000円を超える所もザラにありますよね。

I used to stay at hotels when I wan young, but it costs too much (About 5000 to 8000 yen during a low season and more than 10,000 yen during a peak season).

せっかくの旅行ですから、遠出をする時は1泊ではなく2、3泊で予定を立てる事がほとんど。だから連泊料金が高くなると、良い所を探すのも一苦労。そこに多大な労力を使ってきた記憶は懐かしいです。

Traveling is usually for two or three nights. It is hard to find cheap and good hotels.

色々探してきた結果、ゲストハウスやホステル、AirB&Bなどの宿泊が出始めた頃、ホテルとの料金を比べた際はビックリ！以後ホテルを使う事がほとんどなくなったというのが私の経験です。

Actually, staying at guesthouses or hostels is cheaper than hotels. Therefore, you can save money as you stay at guesthouses or hostels.

先ほどお伝えしたように、ゲストハウスのメリットはなんといっても「ホテルと比べて宿泊料金が安い！」所だと思います。

As you know, guesthouses are cheaper than hotels.

ハイシーズンでも5000～8000円、ローシーズンだと3000円前後で宿泊する事が可能です。

Mostly, you can stay at 5000 to 8000 yen during a peak season and 3000 yen per night during a low season.

また旅行地で急な予定変更があり、連泊を申し出た際にすんなり通りやすいのもゲストハウスならでは。

At a guesthouse, it is easy to ask for a sudden change in schedule.

ホテルだと個室なので、翌日他の誰かが予約していると連泊出来ませんが、ゲストハウスの場合「個室」ではなく「ベッド貸し」なので予約のベッドを変更し、急な連泊を容易に可能に出来る事もメリットだと思います。

You stay in a dormitory room in case of a guesthouse, it is possible to change beds and stay another night without any booking.

ゲストハウスのデメリットはホテルとは違い、「ベッド貸し」ここだと思います。個室が慣れていると、他の人がいる部屋は少し違和感かもしれません。

The biggest disadvantage of a guesthouse is no private rooms. If you used to stay in a private room, you might feel weird and nervous a little bit.

その為料金が安いというのがメリットなのでここは表裏一体かと思います。

That’s why prices are cheaper than hotels.

しかし私が感じる事はそこはデメリットではなく、むしろ旅の「醍醐味」だと思います。

However, for me, it is rather an advantage than a disadvantage.

部屋や共有スペースが一緒だからこそ様々な人と出逢い、それが自分の人生のきっかけになり繋がっていく事が本当に多々ありましたし、今もそうです。

At a guesthouse, you meet a lot of people from all over the world and share a room or a public space.

年齢、性別、人種に限らず色んな人と触れ合い自分の価値観や人生観を考え改めるきっかけになり、一生涯の関係にもなっていく。

It is a good opportunity to communicate with people with different backgrounds, ages and races. This communication could broaden our views and give us new perspectives.

現在は私にとって、そこはデメリットではなくメリットです。

I think that this is the best part of staying at a guesthouse.

色んな人と出逢う事で自分の価値観や人生観を広げてくれたのもそういったきっかけと出逢いがあったからだと思います。

Actually, I stayed at guesthouses and learned a lot of things from other guests.

当館の紹介になりますが、ゲストハウス神戸なでしこ屋はドミトリータイプ（部屋が他の人と一緒）ですが、ベッドに仕切り、カーテン、ライト、コンセントもついているので就寝する時はプライベートな空間を味わえると思います。

At Kobe Nadeshikoya, every bed has a curtain, a light and an electrical outlet, so you can enjoy your own time even in dormitory rooms.

そして何よりキレイ。女性も安心して泊まれます。

And clean!!!!! All guests can relax.
