• 「元気?」と尋ねる時
• 「すごい！」や「良いね！」と返す時
• 「それはしょうがないね～」と伝える時

・「元気？」と尋ねる時

皆さんも学校で1度は習った事があるフレーズ。ごく一般的な挨拶といえば「How are you?」を最初に思い出しますよね。

You must learn “How are you?” at school.

一般的に使われているので海外の方達には、もちろん伝わります！

Of course it is commonly used in foreign countries.

ただHow are you?は初対面の人に使うのが主で、2回目以降、また国によっては少しぎこちない印象もあるそう。

However, “How are you?” is mainly used to a person you meet for the first time, and so, it’s sometimes weird to use it for the second time in some countries.

日本語に訳すと「こんにちは。お元気ですか？」

In Japanese, “Hello. How are you feeling?”

、、、確かに日本でこのフレーズはあまり使わないかもしれませんね。

Well … we don’t actually use it in daily lives.

オーストラリアやアメリカ等の欧米諸国では

In Australia, Europe and America,

「How is going?」「What’s up?」

“How’s going?” “What’s up?”

などがよりフランクな挨拶なので、知り合って2回目以降の海外の方には上記の2つを使うとより距離が縮まって仲良くなれますね！

They are more frank and common.

・「すごい！」や「良いね！」と返す時

・”Nice” “Good”

よく聞くのは「Great！」「Good！」「Nice！」等が一般的ですね。

You may know “Great”, “Good” or “Nice”.

シチュエーションによって他にも様々なワードがあります。

There are many variations in “Good” or “Nice” depends on the situation.

「素晴らしい！・すげぇ！」→「Wonderful！・Awesome！」

“Wonderful” “Awesome”

より強く驚くなら「Amazing！・Fantastic！・Incredible！」

“Amazing” “Fantastic” “Incredible”

他にも様々な表現がありますが、バリエーションがあればより自然な表現が出来ますね。

You can be good at speaking English as you know various kinds of “Good”.

・「それはしょうがないね～」と伝える時

・It can’t be helped.

私は最近までこの表現を使いたくても中々出てこず、お客さんから一般的に使われるフレーズを教えていただきました。

I learned this phrase from one of our guests.

「It can’t be helped」

“It can’t be helped.”

直訳すると「それは助けることが出来ない」となります。

“It can’t be helped.”
